Local Teams Set to Begin State Tournament Action

Baseball and boys volleyball teams from both Enfield and Fermi qualify for postseason play.

Baseball

Class L

No. 10 Fermi (13-6) will host No. 23 Woodstock Academy (12-8) Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. If the Falcons are victorious, they will play Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. against the winner of No. 7 Sheehan vs. No. 26 North Haven. That game will be played at the home of the higher-seeded team.

Class M

No. 5 Enfield (14-5) will host No. 28 Weston (9-11) Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. If the Raiders win, they will play at home Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. against the winner of No. 12 Rocky Hill vs. No. 21 Bethel.

Boys Volleyball

Class M

No. 5 Fermi (14-4) has a first-round bye, and will play at No. 4 Bloomfield (15-3) in the second round Thursday at 7 p.m. The two teams split a pair of matches this season, with each school posting a 3-0 victory on its home court.

No. 8 Enfield (13-5) will host No. 9 Farmington (11-7) Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Raiders beat Farmington twice this season, both by 3-1 scores. The winner of that match will play Friday at No. 1 Darien (17-1) at 7 p.m.
