MA Residents Now Pay In-State Tuition at Asnuntuck

The Connecticut Board of Regents approved in-state tuition rates for residents of Massachusetts who enroll at ACC.

June 16, 2016, Asnuntuck Community College (ACC), located in Enfield, CT, received final approval from the Connecticut Board of Regents (BOR) to execute a two-year pilot program that would allow for Massachusetts residents to be charged Connecticut tuition and fee rates. The college will immediately begin offering this reduced rate to current and prospective students.

Asnuntuck Community College President James P. Lombella and the college community are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity to its neighbors to the North. Asnuntuck has many degree and certificate programs, some with job placement rates in excess of 90%, and is thrilled at the prospect of making these accessible to Massachusetts residents at a price point that is very competitive to other educational options they may be considering.

“We at Asnuntuck Community College are excited about this opportunity to eliminate the obstacle of cost-differential for both our current and prospective students from our partner state of Massachusetts. We have always considered residents of Massachusetts, the border of which is located less than three miles from our campus, to be a part of the region we serve. We view this as an opportunity to serve our college’s mission in providing increased access to top quality higher education and workforce training to members of our region. Most importantly, any success derived from this initiative will greatly benefit Connecticut residents, whether they are Asnuntuck students or members of the public at large. It will mean the potential restoration of painful budget cuts that have impacted academic and student support services, increases to financial aid programs designed to solely benefit Connecticut residents, as well as a boost to the local economy that we know comes with increased enrollment at our college.”
