Deputy Police Chief Gary Collins said officers were summoned to an apartment on Thompson Court Thursday just before midnight, and discovered a considerable amount of broken glass in a hallway and a staircase.
The door to the apartment had been forced open, and extensive damage was seen inside the unit. A woman with a minor head injury and redness on her neck told police she had been assaulted by McLeod and gave them his description, as well as that of his vehicle, Collins said.

The victim said McLeod had kicked in her door shouting he was going to kill her. She hid in a bedroom, but McLeod broke into that room as well and slammed her into a wall, Collins said.
A child was present at the time of the incident, and McLeod left but said he was going to come back with a gun. He smashed several items on his way out, Collins said.
Soon after, police were dispatched to a call on Pearl Street for a man ringing doorbells. The man turned out to be McLeod, who resisted arrest and started fighting with officers, spitting on one as he was being placed in a car, Collins said.
