ENFIELD, CT — A man who had just completed a two-and-a-half-year prison term for one violent crime is back in custody, this time related to a sexual assault case in Enfield.

Enfield police early Friday served 32-year-old Manchester resident Daniel Candella a warrant charging him with first-degree sexual assault and first-degree unlawful restraint related to a 2015 incident in Enfield, police chief Alaric Fox said.

Candella was being being held in lieu of a $200,000.00 cash/surety bond Friday, Fox said.

Candella was taken into custody by Enfield Police at the Carl Robinson Correctional Institution, where he had just completed at 30-month sentence after a conviction for second-degree strangulation in an unrelated Vernon case, Fox said.

Candella was living in Vernon at the time of the choking case but is now listed as a Manchester resident, records show.
