Man Seriously Injured In SUV/Moped Collision In Enfield
The crash took place in the late afternoon hours Wednesday, police said.

ENFIELD, CT — A man sustained serious injuries in a late-afternoon collision involving his moped and an SUV, police said.
Around 5:21 p.m., a red moped operated by Thomas Ward, 49, was traveling southbound on North Main Street approaching Main Street, when it collided with a northbound 2011 Honda CRV driven by Linda Cote, 60, according to Police Chief Alaric Fox.
The CRV was making a left turn from Pearl Street onto Main Street at the time of the crash, Fox said.

Ward was transported with suspected serious injuries to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was intubated and awaiting results of a CAT scan, Fox said.
Both vehicles were significantly damaged in the crash. Police briefly set up a detour within a half-mile radius of the collision, the chief said.
