Marilyn E. Gagnon, 75; Retired Nurse, Long-Time Enfield Resident

Calling hours are scheduled for Tuesday, June 16 with a funeral Mass to be celebrated on Wednesday, June 17.

Marilyn E. (Martel) Gagnon, 75, of Enfield, beloved wife of the late Joseph Gagnon, died peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in West Springfield, Massachusetts on June 1, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Evelyn (Cizek) Martel.

Marilyn was a resident of Enfield since 1968 and was a communicant of St. Martha Church and a former member of the K of C Women’s Auxiliary. She was employed by Blair Manor as an LPN for over 20 years and retired in 2003. Marilyn enjoyed babysitting, attending her grandchildren’s activities; and loved to travel. Marilyn also enjoyed her Wednesday luncheons with friends at Wendy’s as well as being active with the Knights of Columbus Council 50.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Mary O’Connell and her husband, Martin of Enfield and Joanne Gagnon of Enfield; three grandchildren, Rachael, Colin and Matthew O’Connell; her sister, Janet Hirst and her husband, Peter of Florida; her sister-in-law Joan Martel of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, William Martel.

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, June 17 2015 by 9:15 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels for a procession to St. Martha Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at St. Patrick King Street Cemetery. Marilyn’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Knights of Columbus Council 50, Seabury Charitable Foundation or the Enfield Senior Center.
