Mario Palmieri, 93; Enfield Retiree Who Loved Bowling, Golf, His Friday Night Card Games

Calling hours will be held Monday, April 27 with the funeral service scheduled for Tuesday, April 28.

Mario Palmieri, 93, of Enfield, died Friday, April 24th at the Suffield House.

He was the beloved son of the late Mary and John Palmieri. Mario was born November 4, 1921 in the community of San Angelo, A Cupolo Prov. of Beneveto Italy.

He came to this country through Ellis Island at the age of six to settle in Thompsonville. He graduated from Hartford State Trade School and worked at Bigelow Weavers in Enfield until they closed and continued his career as a Tool & Die maker for Hamilton Standard until he retired.

He is now reunited with his parents, brothers and sister.

Mario loved bowling, golf, and his Friday night card games with friends, and was a lifetime avid NY Yankee and Giant fan.

Mario is survived by his godchild and nephew, Ralph and his wife Nancy Lefemine; nieces Aurora and her husband Robert Heim, Mary Ann and her husband Richard Norcross, Jackie Cox, Fanny Young; great nieces and nephews, Paul and his wife Mary Ann Lefemine, Robert Heim, Jennifer and her husband Robert Cross, Anthony Palmieri, Michael and his wife Heather Norcross, Stacey and Lisa Norcross; great-great nieces and nephews, Amanda Lefemine, Katherine Cross, Zackary and Lacey Heim and Michael Norcross.

Mario loved holidays and family birthdays. He loved all his nieces and nephews. Mario was a lifetime member of St. Patrick Church in Enfield and a member of the Enfield Senior Citizens.

Calling hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2015 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. Family and friends will gather at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday April 28 for a procession to St. Patrick Church for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Committal will follow at St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery.
