Michael R. Wambolt, 61; Retired Fiscal Officer for State Department of Public Safety; Enfield Resident

Michael R. Wambolt, 61, of Enfield, husband of Ann (Douglass) Wambolt passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, in the comfort of his home with his wife by his side and favorite cat Snickers on his bed.
Michael was born September 19, 1953, in Hartford, CT the son of Robert and Alberta (Christopovich) Wambolt of Ellington, CT.

Michael received his undergrad from University of Connecticut and his MPA from University of Hartford. Michael retired from the State of CT in 2009 after more than 30 years most recently eight years with the Department of Public Safety as Chief Fiscal Administrative Officer. Michael was an avid collector of minerals, fossils and meteorites. He also took pride in being a frequent winner of the Hartford Courant’s Caption Contests and was known to be a very good cook with BBQ ribs taking the blue ribbon.
In addition to Michael’s parents and his wife, he is also survived by his brother, Harry Wambolt and his wife, Kris and two children, Joseph and Deanna Wambolt, all of Ellington; his sister, Erika Wambolt and her husband, Michael Ferguson of Pennsburgh, PA; his mother-in-law, Mary “Lorraine” Douglass of Farmington, CT; two sisters–in-law, Clare D’Appollonio and her husband, Bill of Scotland, CT and their two children, Stacy D’Appollonio of Plainville, CT and Jason D’Appollonio of Hampton, CT; Mary Lloyd of Hackettstown, NJ; a nephew and niece, Adam and Mary Reed of Michigan and a special friend of more than 30 years, Bob Santa of Columbia, CT.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Thursday, November 20, 2014, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield, CT. Funeral services and burial for Michael will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse & Health Services of CT, Attn: Hospice and Palliative Care, 8 Keynote Dr., Vernon, CT 06066.
