Mom of Injured Enfield Baby Facing Charges
The woman turned herself in to police Tuesday.

The mother of a baby injured last winter at the hands of her then-boyfriend turned herself into Enfield police Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Nicole Rousseau, 33, was charged with cruelty to persons and risk of injury to a child. She was also charged with second-degree failure to appear, stemming from charges of third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace filed following a domestic disturbance at her residence on March 30.
She was held on $250,000 bond, and was arraigned Wednesday in Enfield Superior Court.

Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said Rousseau “was aware the baby was hurt,” but did not do anything about it.
Her former boyfriend, Michael Jiles, Jr., 38, of Springfield, Mass., was charged on a warrant in July with first-degree assault and risk of injury to a child, both felonies. He was also charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and negligent cruelty to persons.

Court records indicate the charges stem from incidents in Feb. 2015, when Jiles allegedly injured Rousseau’s baby on multiple occasions,
A warrant was obtained and served on Jiles in July at Enfield Superior Court, where he was appearing on previous charges of second-degree unlawful restraint, second-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault. Those charges were filed by Enfield police on March 30, and a warrant charging him with five felony counts of violating a protective order was served on Apr. 25, according to judicial records.
Jiles has been held in detention since his initial arrest in lieu of $400,000 bond.
