More Burglary Charges Filed Against Enfield Man
A local man with four pending cases has been charged in connection with two other burglaries, according to police.

ENFIELD, CT — The seemingly never-ending saga of an Enfield man with four pending court cases continued Thursday, as police served two more warrants on him in connection with a pair of burglary attempts at local businesses in March.
Vincent Deprisco, 55, of 22-D Prospect St., was taken into custody around noon Thursday after police found him inside a vehicle in a municipal parking lot at the corner of Prospect and Asnuntuck streets, Police Chief Alaric Fox said.
According to police reports, on March 9, a No Parking - Fire Lane sign was used to smash a window at Carmen's Bakery in the High Street Plaza. About $30 in cash was missing from the business, as was the cash register. In that case, Deprisco was found sleeping in an abandoned car in the plaza's parking lot. He denied any involvement in the burglary, Fox said.

Late in the evening on March 19, police were dispatched to the Mountain Laurel Shoppes at 786 Enfield St. when a caller reported seeing a man smash a window at the OMI Oriental Grocery in the plaza. Police discovered a sign had again been used to break the window, but the cash register was intact and "no entry appeared to have been made," Fox said.

Deprisco was spotted on adjacent Alden Ave. shortly thereafter, and again denied any involvement in the burglary attempt. A police canine unit tracked his scent back to the store, and surveillance video later showed a person matching his description walking away from the front of the plaza and darting into some bushes as police approached, Fox said.
Noting the similar modus operandi of the two cases, police applied for and were granted a warrant for Deprisco's arrest. He was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and sixth-degree larceny in the Carmen's case, and with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal mischief in the OMI case.
On March 23, police responded to a shoplifting call at the Tractor Supply Store in the Big Y Plaza, and took Deprisco into custody. Deprisco initially admitted to stealing a pair of boots from the business, and later confessed to stealing other items from the store, Fox said.
On March 17, Deprisco was arrested on a warrant charging him with first-degree forgery in connection with the passing of several counterfeit bills at local merchants. His other pending cases from 2020 include a larceny and criminal trespass arrest on Jan. 28, and a larceny arrest on Feb. 16, according to judicial records.
Deprisco has been convicted 10 times since 2012 for numerous larceny counts, plus violating his probation, assault, criminal trespass and threatening. He has been sentenced to prison time in seven of those cases, totaling just over three years, judicial records indicate.
