The Network Against Domestic Abuse Celebrates Selection as a Big Y Community Bag Program Beneficiary

The Network Against Domestic Abuse, a non-profit committed to reducing the incidence of domestic violence, has been selected as a beneficiary of the Big Y Community Bag Program for the month of April.
The Big Y Community Bag Program, which launched in January 2019, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities shoppers live and work in. The program features the reusable Community Bag with a special tag attached to it that allows customers to direct a donation to a non-profit of their choice upon purchase.
The Network Against Domestic Abuse was selected as the April beneficiary of the program by store leadership at the Big Y located at 65 Palomba Drive. The Network will receive a $1 donation every time the reusable Community Bag is purchased at this location during April, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag.

“The Network is thrilled to be chosen as the non-profit to benefit from the Community Bag Program for the month of April.” said The Network’s CEO, Kathy Barron. “Funds raised through this program will allow us to continue to provide free services to victims of domestic abuse and their families.”
The Network has a goal of raising $500.00 during April. Funds raised will be used to replace the handicap ramp at Julie’s safe house so disabled clients have better accessibility to the facility.

Since 1985, the Network Against Domestic Abuse has diligently worked to reduce the incidence of domestic violence, providing assistance to adult victims and their children and through education to our youth in the schools. Last year, The Network provided safety planning, shelter, court services and advocacy support to over 9,000 individuals in our community. We educated 6,656 children in the schools about prevention, self-esteem, anger, bullying, healthy relationships and teen dating violence. We continue to be the primary resource in north central Connecticut for violence prevention and education services. All services provided by The Network are free of charge.
