New Chair of Enfield Democratic Town Committee Elected

The newly-elected chair replaces Bill Thomson, who stepped down after heading the town committee since 2012.

ENFIELD, CT - A recently-retired U.S. Army combat veteran and recipient of Enfield's Patriot Award was elected chairperson of the Enfield Democratic Town Committee Wednesday night.

Elizabeth Davis, a 24-year veteran of the Connecticut Army National Guard who served in three combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan, was nominated for the position by Lori Longhi, and elected unanimously.

Davis replaces Bill Thomson, who stepped down after serving as town chairman since 2012.

"It's an honor to be the new chair of the Enfield Democratic Town Committee and that my fellow Democrats have the faith and confidence in me to move our party forward in the right direction," Davis told Enfield Patch Thursday. "I don't take this position for granted. We need to work together as a team and I know we will, so we can make a positive difference in the lives of our fellow residents."

Davis has never held elected office in town. She ran for the District 3 Town Council seat in Nov. 2015, but lost out to incumbent Bill Lee.
