New Principal At Enfield's Crandall School

ENFIELD, CT — One of Enfield's elementary schools will soon have a new leader the helm, with school officials announcing Thursday the appointment of a new principal.

The school system Thursday said Andrew Duperre, a longtime school system educator, was named principal of Prudence Crandall School, a grade 3-5 school located at 150 Brainard Road.

According to the Enfield School System's business office Friday morning, Duperre will earn a salary of $139,224 per the school system's administrative contract. His first day on the job is July 1.

"In his 15 years employed by the Enfield Public Schools, Mr. Duperre has served in many positions, including the assistant principal at Hazardville Memorial, the academic coach at Edgar H. Parkman and a classroom teacher at both Prudence Crandall and Thomas G. Alcorn," reads a statement issued by Enfield Public Schools Thursday.

Duperre earned his elementary teaching certification from Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, a master of education degree from Cambridge College and a sixth-year certificate in educational leadership from CCSU.

According to the announcement, Duperre said he is excited to return to the "Prudence Crandall family."

"He looks forward to working with a staff that has a reputation for excellence and strong commitment for community involvement that helps students learn and grow to their fullest potential," reads the announcement.

School officials said Duperre enjoys spending time with his wife and four boys and on the weekends he can be found watching his children play soccer or coaching youth wrestling.
