George J. Thomas, Jr., 82, of Enfield, died June 1, 2014. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Ackary) Thomas and the son of the late George and Catherine Thomas. George was born on February 19, 1932 in Chester, Pa.
George served in the United States Navy for 1952 through 1956 during which time he was stationed in Japan and Alaska. He married Dorothy Ackary on January 13, 1956.
George worked as an electronics specialist and held that position for a variety of companies throughout his working career. He was an accomplished artist and craftsman. He was an avid modeler and he won numerous awards for his models of vintage World War II airplanes. Later in life, George developed an eye for photography.

George is survived by his three children, Cathy Kulas and her husband Stanley of Windsor, Richard Thomas and his girlfriend Robin Rittinger of Bloomfield and Georgia Moran and her husband Michael of Windsor Locks.
George is also survived by his two grandchildren, Michael Kulas and his fiancée, Erica Froncek of Washington, D.C. and Kristin Kulas of New York City, NY. The family would like to thank the staff of Kimberly Hall South Nursing Home for their care of George and also wish to thank Vitas Hospice for their support and care.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7, at 11 a.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield, with military honors. Burial will be private.
His family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in George’s name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
