ONE Community Campaign By Enfield KITE Thriving
The Enfield Food Shelf and Loaves & Fishes soup kitchen are beneficiaries of the educational group's latest campaign of community building.

ENFIELD, CT — On May 1, Enfield Key Initiatives to Early Education (KITE) launched the ONE Community campaign to inspire kindness and raise money for the Enfield Food Shelf and the Loaves & Fishes soup kitchen. As a collaborative, KITE combines community resources related to children and families, and it was through these partnerships that KITE identified food insecurity as the greatest need in the community. With unemployment soaring and food donations dropping, it was the best way KITE could serve children and families in Enfield.
The campaign began with a $2,000 match made possible by a grant earmarked for programming from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. Within 36 hours of the campaign launch, the initial goal was exceeded, prompting Eppendorf, a German-based laboratory product development firm with a large presence in Enfield, donated $10,000 to increase public match potential.
KITE received donations of $3,100 from the Enfield Rotary Club and $2,000 from the Enfield School Administrators’ Association this week, raising total funds for the campaign to $15,100. Residents are encouraged to Pay It Forward by posting photos to social media to spread kindness and grow the campaign. Over 500 signs have already been distributed throughout neighborhoods in town, symbolizing the community coming together to help neighbors through the current coronavirus pandemic.
