The Citizens Academy will provide residents with an inside look at how their town works and decisions are made.

Enfield — how well do you know your town and how it works?
The town is offering residents an opportunity to enroll in the annual fall Enfield Citizens Academy to learn how the main components the Town of Enfield operate and discuss common issues that each department faces on a regular basis.
The goal of the academy is to have a more informed community that understands the how the town administration and Town Council decides important issues and to give residents a chance to question town leaders on their recommendations.

The academy begins Sept. 3 with a presentation by public safety officials including police and EMS. There also will be a tour of the Enfield Police Department.

Each fall, there will be one “semester.” There will be a course each week, for a total of 11 courses, which highlights the various departments and operations of the Town.

Class Size: Each semester, the class size will vary. However, no class will have less than ten residents or more than 40.
Class Location: The majority of classes will held in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, some classes will be held on location of the department leading the course. In such cases, a demonstration or tour will be included in the course for that evening.
Class Times: Courses will start at 6:30 p.m., once a week, for one to two hours. Generally, 45 – 60 minutes of presentation and explanation, 15-20 minutes for resident questions and answers.
Completion: Residents who attend at least 8 of the 11 courses per semester. Residents who meet the completion criteria will be presented with a Certificate of Completion and have it presented to them at a Town Council meeting by the Mayor and Town Manager after the semester has finished.
