Operation Summer Fun
Two students from St. Martha School help summer arrive a little early.
Operation Summer Fun was a community service project to collect small items for the kids in the afterschool program in Enfield coordinated by Enfield Loaves and Fishes. Jackie and Eva, Saint Martha School Grade 8 students, came up with the idea for the project as part of their Girl Scout Silver Award, last year. Their hope was to bring a little joy to underprivileged children at the end of the school year. Again, this year, they collected various outdoor items for play and activities such as jump ropes, chalk, bubbles, balls, games, etc. and assembled them into summer fun gift bags and delivered them on May 24th. Pictured in the first picture is Jackie Barrow and Eva Perkins delivering the assembled bags to Ryan A. Obedzinski, Manager of Community Engagement and Partnerships, Educational Resources for Children, Inc. The second picture is Jackie and Eva in front of the assembled and decorated summer fun bags.
