ENFIELD, CT — Today's look back at Enfield history, courtesy of the Facebook group Picture Enfield, takes us back roughly 45 years, to a mid-1970s shot of the former Asnuntuck Community College location on Phoenix Avenue.

Asnuntuck, an Indian word meaning "fresh water," began offering classes in 1972 in the former North School in Thompsonville. In 1974, the campus moved to a former warehouse on Phoenix Avenue, where it remained until the 1983 acquisition of the former Kosciuszko Junior High School building at 170 Elm Street.

If anyone has a clue who these two guys are, or what they are doing, by all means, please let us know.

The Phoenix Avenue building underwent extensive redesign before becoming the site of Enfield Superior Court. Here is a contemporary look at the site, taken by yours truly.

Last week's trivia answer:
Last week's trivia question was: "Who was the last band director at Kosciuszko Junior High School?" The answer: Bob Blake, depicted in the photo below from the final Big K yearbook of 1982. At least some of him was depicted; he is listed as being on the far right of the second row, but all we can see is his right shoulder and the right side of his collar. Yes, the crack yearbook production staff cropped through the middle of the band director! Several people guessed Larry Climan, but he was still at John F. Kennedy Junior High School at the time, according to the photo below from the 1982 JFK yearbook. Kim Sweeney was the first person to answer correctly.
