Players Still Sought for Fermi-Enfield Alumni Flag Football Game

The Enfield Food Shelf will be the beneficiary of proceeds from the event at Enfield High School.

ENFIELD, CT — In somewhat of a return to a longtime former town tradition, ex-football players from both Fermi and Enfield high schools are lining up to play in the first alumni flag football game on Thanksgiving eve, with a local charity as beneficiary.

The inaugural game, known as The Eagle Bowl, is set for Enfield High School on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. Game day registration and pre-registered player check-in begins at 6 p.m.

Plans are to play two 30-minute halves with running time until the final three minutes of each half. Ideally, organizers would like to generate enough player interest that participants over age 30 will play the first half, and those younger than 30 in the second half.

Modified Enfield Flag Football League rules and officials will be utilized.

Fee to play is $25 per person, as well as a non-perishable food item. Participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt with their registration; the shirts will also be available for sale to non-playing attendees. Fans are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or make a donation to the Enfield Food Shelf.
