Post 154 Awards Maciolek Scholarships

The recipients were Alex Jensen and Jocelyn DeGray.

ENFIELD, CT — The American Legion Post 154 of the Thompsonville section of town recently awarded the 2017 John Maciolek Scholarships to Alex Jensen and Jocelyn DeGray.

Post commander Lucien H. Lefevre and deputy commander Theodore Plamondon presided over the ceremony.

The John Maciolek Scholarship is awarded in honor of John Maciolek, a resident of Thompsonville, who died from wounds received while serving his country during World War II. He was wounded during the Rome-Arno Campaign.

The scholarship is awarded annually to a child or grandchild of a member of the John Maciolek Post 154.

Jensen will be pursuing a degree in Political Science at Castleton University in Vermont, and DeGray will be pursuing a degree in pharmacy at the University of Connecticut.
