Purple For Emily

Pope Francis High School and St. Martha School come together to support a student.

This past week, two schools from two different states came together for one heartwarming cause. This all started with an Enfield teenager, who attends Pope Francis High School in Springfield, MA, and his name is Stephen Rougeot. Stephen's sister, Emily, is currently battling a disease that has subjected her to multiple surgeries. She is preparing for her next surgery, which is coming up shortly. Stephen took it upon himself to support his sister's cause by dying his hair purple, the color associated with his sister's illness. The Pope Francis Hockey Team, which Stephen plays for, all followed his lead and dyed their hair purple as well. To get this accomplished in such a short time frame Modern Design Salon, in West Suffield, donated their time and material for the hockey players hair coloring. Pope Francis High School then took the initiative even further and had a "Purple for Emily" Day, where all of the students at Pope Francis could support Emily. The "Purple" did not stop there, Saint Martha School in Enfield, took this past Wednesday and made it a "Purple for Emily" Day too. Emily is an 8th Grade student at St. Martha and the entire student body as well as the teachers and staff all showed up wearing purple in her support.
