Raymond 'Ray' Martel, 61; Former Enfield Resident, Drywall Taper

Raymond “Ray” Arthur Martel, 61, of Palm Coast, FL and formerly of Enfield, CT, entered into eternal rest, after a fighting a courageous battle with brain cancer, on Thursday July 2, 2015 in Ormond Beach, FL.

Raymond was born on Oct. 30, 1953 in Kennebunkport, ME, to the late Roger and Gilberte (Pivin) Martel.

He had resided in Florida since early 2015 and in Enfield, CT prior to that. Ray served his country proudly with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era as a military policeman. He was employed as a drywall/taper for over 25 years and was a member of the Painters Union Local 481, District Council 11.

In his leisure time, Ray enjoyed fishing, boating, the beach and trips to the casino. Cooking and grilling were his favorite pastimes and he was not happy until you “tried” a bite.

Ray is survived by his three children; Daniel Martel of Enfield, Michelle Gray & husband Nathan of Ludlow, MA and Melissa LeClair & husband Ryan of Enfield, his three beloved grandchildren; Angelina Martel, and Mackenzie & Kourtney Gray. He is also survived by his brother Richard Martel & wife Linda of Summersville, KY and his sister Lynn Dube & husband Joe of Palm Coast, FL, along with many several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ray was also predeceased by his brother Michel Martel.

Ray’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday July 12, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield followed by a Memorial Service with Fr. John Melnick officiating and military honors. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
