Retired Police Chief Ron Marcotte Honored with Portrait at Enfield PD
Friends, family, and officials gathered in the lobby of the Enfield Police Department for the unveiling of a portrait of retired Police Chief Ron Marcotte.
A small crowd gathered at the Enfield Police Department for the surprise unveiling of a portrait of retired Chief Ron Marcotte. Family, friends, in addition to town and police officials were on hand for the unveiling.
Under the pretense of a discussion of insurance for town retirees, Marcotte arrived at the Police Department unaware of the event in his honor.
“I did not expect this to happen what so ever,” the retired Chief said.

Mayor Scott Kaupin explained that the town has adopted a new policy about honoring Police Chiefs.
“Every chief that is serving now, or has served in the past, has a proper place out in lobby to join Chiefs Skower and Foy,” Kaupin said.

In explaining the impetus for the portrait of Marcotte being added to the lobby, Kaupin said much of the credit goes to a person who contacted him.
With a beaming grin, he asked Marcotte, “do you wanna guess who contacted me?”
“I know!” Marcotte quickly responded looking over to his wife Susan.
“My wife used to say, 'did they hang your picture up yet?' She is very good about keeping a secret,” Marcotte said.
Also on hand for the unveiling were former Police Chief Herbert Foy, and current Chief Carl Sferrazza.
“I worked for Ronnie my whole life until he retired here. Very loyal guy, cared a lot about the people he supervised. Cared a lot about the town,” Sferrazza said.
Chief Marcotte retired in 2005.
Mayor Kaupin shared his impression of the Chief, “for the many years I served on the council, and the Chief came to present, you'd see his pieces of paper, he had lines, hash marks, and always the little smiley faces when he wanted to emphasize and make a good point.”
“We want to thank him for his years of service to Enfield.”
