Enfield resident Emily Rougeot became the newest - and- youngest member of the women's lacrosse team at American International College (AIC) in Springfield recently.
Emily, a sixth grader at Saint Martha School in Enfield, was "drafted" to join the lacrosse team through Team Impact, a program that matches college athletes to children who suffer life-threatening or chronic illnesses.
The team's coach, Ashley Casiano, said that Emily has been a great addition to the team. "She was just who we needed this year," Casiano explained. "Emily looks up to the team, who serve as role models, and they look to Emily for great support. It also means a lot to Emily's family, who attend games on a regular basis."
