In a letter to Eli Whitney parents being sent home with students Friday, Ingalls expressed her excitement at the upcoming move.

"I am honored to have been appointed to this position and I look forward to the upcoming school year," she wrote. "Eli Whitney Intermediate School has had a wonderful inaugural year under the leadership of Mr. Robert Fenton. Mr. Fenton is a well respected educator and I am proud to be following in his footsteps. I look forward to working with the outstanding educators at Eli Whitney. I also look forward to working with you and all members of the Eli Whitney learning community. Most of all, I look forward to working with your children. They are the pride and joy of their parents and guardians, their teachers and the community. They deserve our very best efforts each and every day.  I promise you, I will do just that."
