2 Troopers Hurt As Car Slams Into State Police Cruiser At Crash Site On I-91 In Enfield
A multi-vehicle crash made a mess of the morning commute in north central Connecticut Thursday morning and left troopers hurt.

ENFIELD, CT — Two troopers investigating an accident were hurt when an unrelated vehicle slammed into a state police cruiser on Interstate 91 in Enfield Thursday morning.
According to a crash report, at 7:05 a.m., state troopers Matthew Cerri and Christopher Genovese were at a crash scene on the right shoulder of the northbound side of the highway, just past the Exit 47W off-ramp. Cerri was seated in his assigned cruiser with the emergency lights activated and Genovese was standing on the shoulder on the right side and adjacent to the cruiser, according to a crash report.
Suddenly, a 2010 Acura TXS with Connecticut plates being driven by an 18-year-old Waterbury man passed through an area of standing water in the left lane and went into a spin, according to a crash report.

The Acura shot across three lanes and hit Cerri's cruiser, which then hit Genovese and knocked him over, according to a crash report.
Cerri, the Acura driver and his 19-year-old passenger sustained what state police described as moderate to minor injuries. Genovese suffered serious injuries, state police said. All were taken to area hospitals, according to a crash report.

The State Police Central District Major Crimes Squad and the CSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad are investigating the crash.
