Sex Assault With a Minor Charge Filed Against Former Enfield Man

ENFIELD, CT — A former longtime Enfield resident was arrested Monday on a warrant charging him with sexual assault and related crimes, stemming from alleged illegal sexual activity with a minor last summer.

William Watson, 54, who now lives in Manchester, was taken into custody by Manchester police Monday afternoon and turned over to Enfield detectives. He is charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a child and illegal sexual contact with a victim under age 16.

He was released shortly before 6 a.m. Tuesday after posting a $100,000 surety bond, Police Chief Alaric Fox said.

Fox said the incident leading to Watson's arrest occurred at 4:57 p.m. on July 21, 2018. The warrant supporting his arrest is sealed for 14 days, so no further information was immediately available.
