Shannon Marie Curley, 22; Enfield Resident Who Enjoyed Sports, Poetry; A Gifted Athlete

Calling hours will be held Monday, June 8 with the funeral service planned for Tuesday, June 9.

Shannon Marie Curley, 22, of Enfield, loving daughter of Dennis and Karen and sister of Stacie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2015, surrounded by her family at the Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham, MD.

Born in Hartford on May 7, 1993, Shannon was a lifelong resident of Enfield and attended Enfield Public Schools.

While growing up in Enfield, Shannon loved playing with her brother and sister and the other children in her neighborhood that was like a big family. She loved fishing and quading and was a gifted athlete as a young girl, excelling at every sport that she participated in.

Shannon was very talented and creative. She loved all types of music and regularly wrote poetry and journaled her experiences in life. Summer vacations were a highlight for Shannon and her family every summer. She loved spending time in New Hampshire and staying in hotels or watching a movie with her family.

As her health started to fail, Shannon maintained wisdom beyond her years. She always wanted to be productive and even though she was limited, she continually cared for others and had a big heart. Children loved Shannon and were drawn to her and she loved animals.

She leaves her parents, Dennis P. Curley and Karen (McLean) Curley of Enfield; a sister, Stacie Lynn Curley of Wilmington, NC; five uncles; two aunts; and her dog, Ronan. She was predeceased by her brother, Dustin James Curley; and an uncle, David McLean.

Her family will receive friends on Monday, June 8, 4-8 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 11 a.m., at The Lodge, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Enfield.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Fraser Henderson, the nurses and staff, and all the EDS families that have helped them through the last several years.

Shannon’s family has requested that memorial donations be made to, TCAPP, P.O. Box 1433, Marshfield, MA 02050. All donations will be directed towards EDS research.
