Sister School Staffers Traverse Enfield Via Vehicle Caravan
More than 50 vehicles with teachers and staff from 2 Enfield elementary schools traveled through town Wednesday to see their students.

ENFIELD, CT — For exactly two hours Wednesday afternoon, a caravan of vehicles containing teachers and staff members from sister elementary schools Hazardville Memorial and Eli Whitney snaked its way through the streets of Enfield, greeted at every turn by enthusiastic students, parents, alumni and residents wishing to thank them for the amazing work they do with the children.
At least 50 vehicles were involved in the procession, many decorated with messages for the kids. The motorcade departed the former Fermi High School parking lot at 1 p.m., and ended at 3 p.m. in Thompsonville. Nearly every neighborhood in central and southern Enfield was covered during the trip, and many of the students held up signs proclaiming their love for their favorite teachers.

For full disclosure, I was allowed to drive at the tail end of the procession in order to personally capture the sights and sounds of the event. I was impressed by the hundreds of people lining the route, ranging in age from 5 to 95 (I'm not kidding), and the air was punctuated by the honking of horns, the unending strains of "We Are Family" and - in reference to the recently retired Eli Whitney principal driving directly in front of me - at least 927 screams of "OH MY GOD, THAT'S MISS DIPPEL!!!"
Below are just some of the photos taken along the parade route.
