Enfield State Representative Makes Re-Election Announcement
The three-term Democrat representing parts of Enfield and East Windsor made an important statement Wednesday.

ENFIELD, CT - State Representative David W. Kiner officially announced Wednesday that he will not be seeking re-election for the 59th District House seat in 2016.
The district includes parts of Enfield and East Windsor.
“I’ve enjoyed every minute of my three terms representing the great people of Enfield and East Windsor,” Kiner said. “It has been an absolute privilege to serve this district and it is an experience that I will carry with me throughout my lifetime.”
Kiner continued that he is looking forward to starting a family someday soon with his wife, Gina, and pursuing a career outside of government that allows him the ability to spend more time with his family and provide for them.
Kiner was first elected to the State House of Representatives in November 2010. He currently holds the title of vice chair of the General Law Committee and in his second term, was appointed to a leadership position as the Deputy Majority Whip at-Large. Kiner also serves on the Labor and Public Employees Committee as well as the Public Safety and Security Committee, and is a member of both the Manufacturing Caucus and the Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities Caucus.
Prior to being elected to the House, Kiner served on the Enfield Town Council , where he focused his attention on education and quality of life issues for all residents. Kiner served on the Town Council from 2007 to 2011 when he resigned to be sworn in as a State Representative. As an Enfield native, Kiner said he was thrilled to continue to serve the town as a State Representative.
“This has truly been a rewarding experience,” Kiner said. “It has been an honor to serve a community that has given me so much and a place I call home.”
After the 2010 census, the state reconfigured the 59th House district to include parts of East Windsor, and Kiner said he appreciated getting to know the people of East Windsor and is thankful for their warm welcome.
“I appreciate each person who I have had the pleasure of meeting in the last six years,” Kiner said. “Being a state representative of this great district has been a commitment I have truly enjoyed.”
