Suspect In Shooting Attempt Arrested In Enfield

A man accused of firing a gunshot during an August altercation was arrested on a warrant Wednesday.

ENFIELD, CT — A man suspected of firing a shot at another man during an August altercation on Pearl Street was tracked down by police and taken into custody late Wednesday afternoon.

Aaron Addison Dukes, 40, was spotted by patrol officers sitting in a vehicle in front of his home on White Street. He was taken into custody without incident, and was charged on a warrant with criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, carrying a dangerous weapon, illegal discharge of a firearm, discharging a firearm on a public highway, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm and second-degree breach of peace. During his arrest, he was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Bail was set at $250,000, and Dukes was slated to appear in court Thursday.

According to a police report, on Aug. 24, a man, later identified as Dukes, exited a vehicle with a firearm in his hand on Pearl Street and confronted another person on the sidewalk. After an altercation, Dukes raised the weapon as the other person began to step backwards, and Dukes fired one round, then fled in his vehicle. No one was struck or injured during the incident.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Dukes, but his location was unknown after the shooting, police said.
