Teen Arson Suspect's Mom Charged in Connection With Her Son's Case

The state's attorney's office has charged her with fabricating letters that she got co-workers to sign in her son's defense.

The state’s attorney’s office in Hartford has charged the mother of Enfield arson suspect Davidson Izzo with creating false letters in his defense that she got co-workers to sign, the Hartford Courant reported.

Judicial records show Theresa Izzo, 49, of 390 Elm St. in Enfield was charged Friday with two counts of tampering with a witness and one count of tampering with evidence.

She was released after posting $50,000 bond, and is slated to return to Hartford Superior Court Dec. 1.

She is accused of asking co-workers to sign letters she wrote, claiming her son was with her at work at an East Hartford diner during one of the fires he is charged with setting, the Courant said.

Davidson Izzo is charged with first-degree arson in connection with five fires that were set between August and December 2014, all in proximity to his Hazardville home. He has been held since his March arrest in lieu of bonds totaling $790,000, according to judicial records.

At least four other fires in that same neighborhood are still under investigation.
