Throwback Thursday: Do You Remember...

A look back at some pages from Enfield's past.

ENFIELD, CT — In this periodic series, Enfield Patch remembers a business or landmark that is no longer in town through publication of old photos, advertisements from some 1950s-1990s high school and junior high school yearbooks and 1960s to mid-1980s telephone directories.

A recent addition to the digital collection of the Enfield Historical Society on archive.org has been the reproduction of some junior high school yearbooks, some dating back to the 1920s.

From 1964 to 1982, thousands of students attended Thaddeus Kosciuszko Junior High School at 170 Elm Street. "The Big K" and its crosstown counterpart, John F. Kennedy Junior High, housed grades seven through nine. Students learned to spell the difficult name of the Polish-American Revolutionary War hero by the phrase, "Keep Our School Clean; If U See Zebras, Keep Out."
