ENFIELD, CT - In this weekly series, Enfield Patch publishes a photo of a business or landmark in town that is no longer in existence.
In the 1980s, Roy Rogers Restaurant operated at 89 Elm Street, in the southwest corner of the Food Mart/Caldor Plaza.
Named after cowboy movie actor Roy Rogers, the chain of fast-food restaurants was founded in 1968 in Falls Church, Va. At its peak, the chain operated in over 650 locations across the country, but the majority of the franchises closed by 1990.

The Elm Street location had previously been home to an Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips.

Following the closure of Roy Rogers, a Kenny Rogers Roasters restaurant operated for several years at the site. Currently, the location is home to a Dunkin' Donuts store, one of more than a half-dozen in Enfield.
