Throwback Thursday: Do You Remember...?

A photo and story of a business from Enfield's past.

ENFIELD, CT — In this weekly series, Enfield Patch publishes a photo of a business or landmark in town that is no longer in existence, and for the second straight week, we're featuring a business that shut its doors fairly recently.

After nearly two decades in the former Hazardville Hotel building at the corner of Hazard Avenue and South Maple Street, Gayle's Thyme Herbal Apothecary closed its retail storefront on Dec. 31, 2014.

The store, opened by master herbalist Gayle Nogas in 1995, carried numerous varieties of herbs and spices, as well as aromatherapy, nutritional, metaphysical and spiritual supplies, candles, incense and jewelry. Nogas also offered classes, demonstrations, and workshops using herbs and aromatherapy for healing the mind, body and spirit.

Like many small retail specialty shops, Nogas closed the physical location but retains a business presence online at www.gaylesthyme.com.

Enfield Patch invites readers to share their memories in the comments section below.
