ENFIELD, CT — In this weekly series, Enfield Patch publishes a photo of a business or landmark in town that is no longer in existence.
Today we return to the photo book Enfield: 1950-1980 to offer something a little different - an archival photo of a memorable mishap involving one of the town's most beloved sportsmen.
In the early 1960s, Enfield Parks & Recreation director Angelo Lamagna was plowing Freshwater Pond following a snowstorm, but his Jeep crashed through the ice and was partially submerged.

Lamagna was not hurt, and a crane was brought in to remove the Jeep.
In this photo, a pair of Parks & Recreation employees, including future Boston Red Sox pitcher Bill Spanswick, are bringing a sawhorse to the scene to keep ice skaters away.
