Throwback Thursday: Do You Remember...?
An old advertisement and story of a business from Enfield's past.

ENFIELD, CT — In this weekly series, Enfield Patch remembers a business or landmark in town that is no longer in existence.
We continue the format of this column we recently instituted: old advertisements from local businesses in some 1970s and 1980s Enfield and Fermi high school yearbooks and early-1960s to mid-1980s telephone directories and newspapers.
Today we go back to a Fermi High School yearbook from the early 1980s and dig out an ad from Scitico Market, longtime anchor of the Scitico Plaza at 585 Hazard Avenue.

The market was founded as a specialty meat location in 1948 by Albert D'Allesandro and Charles Pennachio, in a building a bit further west down Route 190. Eventually, the business moved into the former A&P location on the west end of the Scitico Plaza.
D'Allesandro retired in the early 1990s. His son, Robert, took over management of the store and operated it until its closing in March 2010.

Albert D'Allesandro passed away in 2005 at age 81.
The former market space in the plaza currently houses the Family Dollar store.
