Throwback Thursday: Do You Remember...?
An old advertisement and story of a business from Enfield's past.
ENFIELD, CT — In this weekly series, Enfield Patch remembers a business or landmark in town that is no longer in existence.
We continue the format of this column we recently instituted: old advertisements from local businesses in some 1960s-1980s Enfield and Fermi high school yearbooks and early-1960s to mid-1980s telephone directories and newspapers.
Today we reach all the way back to the 1961 Enfield High School yearbook for an ad for the Midnite Spa, located at 25 North Main Street at the corner of Russell Street in the Thompsonville section of Enfield.

A check of town records indicates the building was constructed in 1920, and the business existed there for many years. The yearbook ad for the Spa proudly proclaimed, "For Lunch and Sundaes."
After some extensive remodeling, the site became the longtime home of optometrist brothers Dr. Walter Stopa (d. 1976) and Dr. Frank J. Stopa (d. 1994). Dr. Thomas Misiewicz has conducted his optometry practice in the building for more than 30 years.
