Truck Fire Briefly Closes Two Lanes of I-91 in Enfield

The truck is a total loss, according to an Enfield fire official.

ENFIELD, CT — A pickup truck caught fire early Friday afternoon on Interstate 91 southbound in Enfield, resulting in two lanes being closed for a brief period of time.

Deputy Chief Paul Januszewski said the fire and resulting smoke caused the closure of the lanes around 1 p.m. Crews from the Enfield and Thompsonville fire districts had the blaze under control in less than 10 minutes.

The truck driver and his dog were able to escape without injury. The truck is destroyed, Januszewski said.
