Turkey Drive Underway at Enfield Food Shelf

Donations of turkeys and other traditional holiday meal items will be needed for Thanksgiving tables.

ENFIELD, CT — The Enfield Food Shelf has been providing food assistance to its neighbors for over 50 years, with more than 100 town families now registered to receive food. Each week, those families of adults and children are offered foods that have been donated through the generosity of individuals, religious and civic organizations, schools and school groups, gardeners and farmers, business partners, grocers and distributors.

During this season of giving thanks, donations of turkeys and other traditional holiday meal items will be needed for Thanksgiving tables. Frozen turkeys, 12-15 pounds in size, boxes of instant potatoes, cans of yams and vegetable, pie crust, frosting, cranberry sauces and pickles, olives and other condiments are among needed items. Monetary donations are also welcomed and appreciated.

Donations may be brought to the Enfield Food Shelf at 96 Alden Avenue as follows:

  • Mondays, 9 a.m. to noon
  • Tuesdays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 11 and 18, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Sunday, Nov. 12 and 19, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
