Warner Out, Lemay In for Democrats Town Council At-Large Bid

Democrats nominated businessman Bob Lemay to run for Town Council after Susan Warner withdrew her name from the ticket.

At the Democratic Town Committee meeting last night, Town Council candidate Susan Warner withdrew her name from the ticket. The committee voted to put Bob Lemay in her place for the at-large bid in the November election.

Warner was nominated and selected at the Democratic Caucus last month. Democrats nominated five candidates for four positions. Lemay was the odd man out in that contest, but is now pleased to fill the vacancy.

“I want to help the residents,” he said, “I want to listen to what they have to say.”

Lemay has been a resident of Enfield since 1963 and a graduate of Fermi High School. He feels the budget is the most significant issue facing Enfield, and wants to ensure that more services are not cut. He has experience in business and volunteer activities including serving as President of the Soccer Club and membership in the Knights of Columbus.

Warner dropped out of the ticket for personal reasons. She has served as Judge of Probate and on the Board of Education in the past.

Democratic Town Chair Tony DiPace said Warner withdrew because she felt she would not have the time to devote to the campaign due to other commitments.

Warner could not be reached for comment.

About Lemay, DiPace said, “he's a fresh face, he doesn't have any baggage as a candidate.”

DiPace said the change does not affect campaign strategy. The Democrats plan to release a platform in the next few weeks. He cited fiscal responsibility and budget matters as the primary focus of the campaign.

Further details will provided as they become available.
