What Enfield Square Mall Owners Just Said About Repairs And Reopening

The property's representatives allege major issues have been fixed, as town officials prepare for a return visit.

ENFIELD, CT — Parts of Enfield Square Mall remain temporarily closed following winter-related damage, but property representatives now claim the immediate safety concerns raised by town officials have been addressed as repairs continue.

The Town of Enfield Division of Building Inspection previously issued a Notice of Unsafe Structure after inspectors identified frozen and damaged fire sprinkler piping, heating system failures tied to sprinkler protection areas, and water damage caused by the recent cold snap.

In a new update to Patch, representatives for the property alleged that ownership has resolved all immediate concerns cited by the Building Department and Fire Marshal. Namdar Realty Group, which owns Enfield Square Mall, alleged in the statement that the issues flagged by town officials have been corrected.

According to the statement, additional repairs are still underway, and required systems testing is being scheduled before town officials return for a final inspection.

Earlier, officials for the property said a sprinkler head burst inside an empty storefront and frozen pipes were discovered in the former movie theater section, which has been closed since 2023. The damage prompted inspectors to restrict access to certain portions of the mall.

Representatives have also emphasized that the mall is not fully closed and that Target remains open.

Patch has reached out to Enfield’s Town Manager and the Division of Building Inspection to confirm the updated information provided by property representatives.

There is still no confirmed timeline for when the closed sections of the mall could reopen, pending completion of repairs, system testing, and final approval from inspectors.
