Woman Killed in I-91 Crash in Enfield

A car struck a motorcycle on I-91 about a mile south of the Massachusetts border.

ENFIELD, CT - A car collided with a motorcycle on Interstate 91 in Enfield early Monday morning, killing a woman and seriously injuring a man, state police said.

Caroline McCallister, 47, of Milford was a passenger on a southbound Harley Davidson operated by Randal Ruelle, 47, also of Milford, when a Ford Freestyle which was changing lanes struck the rear fender and tire area of the bike, knocking it off the highway about nine-tenths of a mile south of exit 49, police said.

McCallister was pronounced dead at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, while Ruelle suffered serious injuries and was transported to Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, police said.

The car operator, identified as Brett Verona, 26, of Windsor Locks, was not injured in the collision, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
