Here are the top three stories in Essex-Chester-Deep River today:

  1. According to the Essex Elementary School PTO, "It's that time of year to clean out your closet! Essex Elementary is asking for your oldest sneakers. Don't throw them away! Instead, drop them off in the blue bin found at any of the following locations, Essex Mail Mart, Essex Hardware, Valley Shore YMCA and Essex Elementary. Through Got Sneakers?, the PTO gets up to $1 per pair of sneakers (any condition!) donated. The shoes are refurbished & sent to developing countries or recycled." (Got Sneakers Fundraiser)
  2. Middlesex Chamber of Commerce Chairwoman, Kristen Roberts of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce announced that the Middlesex Chamber will be hosting a free training on the administration and uses for Narcan. 3. The holidays are almost upon us. Boughs of holly and turkey with all the trimmings and a big dollop of nostalgia are all we need to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. According to a press release from the Ivoryton Playhouse, the Winter Wonderletters, a marvelous holiday musical, will be opening at the Ivoryton Playhouse on Thursday, November 17, to help us get into the holiday season spirit. "All your favorite holiday songs, including great '60s versions of classics such as "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town," "Jingle Bell Rock," "Run, Rudolph, Run," and "Winter Wonderland," will be part of the show. There are lots of laughs and audience participation. It will be a magical night of fun for the whole family, filled with the spirit of the season. Winter Wonderettes runs through Sunday, December 18th. Performance times are Wednesday and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm; evening performances are Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 pm, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm.
