📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Essex-Chester-Deep River who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

Here are the top three stories today in Essex-Chester-Deep River:

  1. A press release was sent out recently by the schools of Chester, Deep River, Essex and Region 4 reiterating the announcement that exterior stop sign cameras have been installed on all of the school buses. This helps to ensure that our students remain safe at bus stops while boarding and exiting buses, in all three towns. Bus drivers have been trained in the use of this new technology. Superintendent of Schools Brian White said, "I am pleased that the boards of education supported this measure to increase the safety of all of our students." Superintendent White also went on to state, "I am very pleased with the partnership between our school system, our local police departments, and our transportation provider who all worked collaboratively to support this effort." (Region 4 Schools)
  2. It's that time of year — Halloween! Hope to see you all in downtown Essex for the annual Halloween Parade which will take place today at 6 p.m. It will kick off at the post office on Main Street! (Town of Essex via Facebook)
  3. Valley Regional High School will host a Veterans Appreciation Luncheon on November 10 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a Veterans Appreciation event honoring veterans to follow. Hope to see you all there!(Valley Regional High School via Facebook)

Patch deal of the day:

Good knives make all the difference in the kitchen, but you don't need to overpay for them. Seido Japanese knives are made with strong high-carbon stainless steel (high-carbon knives are more durable and usually more expensive) and have an acute 15-degree angle for a noticeably sharper cutting face (most Western-style knives have edge angles of 25 degrees). For a limited time, Patch readers can get a 5-piece Seido Japanese master knife set for 71 percent off. At just under $70, this chef-quality set is perfect for any home cook and would also make a great gift for the holidays.

  • Tri-Town Youth Services Bureau: "What a great reminder for community members! Supporting our teens in being teens, trying to have healthy fun, is prevention! A piece or two of candy is well worth it!" (Tri-Town Youth Services Bureau via Facebook)
  • Tri-Town Youth Services Bureau: "Two brand new donated books for our little free library! You can find these there on Monday!" (Tri-Town Youth Services Bureau via Facebook)
  • Essex Library: "Families, mark your calendars! Saturday, November 19 @ 3:00 PM, join us for a family crafting event! We will show a short Thanksgiving movie in the program room, and then work together to make a beautiful centerpiece to display." (Essex Library via Facebook)
