Tri-Town Politicians Weigh In On Capitol Bedlam
Unnerved by the chaotic happens at the White House Wednesday, local politicians voice their concern for our country.
ESSEX, CHESTER, DEEP RIVER, CT — After legislators dealt with an angry mob right here at home, in the Constitution State, while being sworn in during an outdoor ceremony held in Hartford, two local politicians weighed in with their thoughts about Wednesday’s bedlam at the U. S. Capitol.
Upset by the happenings of the day, Senator Norm Needleman (D-33) called the pandemonium “...a symptom of a much deeper problem in this country.”
He went on, “I have lived through the beginning of the Civil Rights movement, the war in Vietnam, protests for many different things, but never, in the history of this country has what happened today happened.”

He added, “The lesson from all of this is we better find a way to live and work together to solve the problems that we are facing in our country. An angry mob solves nothing.”
Outraged by the chaos, State Representative Christine Palm (D-36) said, “This is the inevitable culmination of four years of unchecked anti-democratic, anti-American lawlessness promoted by a sitting president. Today’s insurrection should force us to reckon with recklessness, racism, homophobia, misogyny and xenophobia embraced by nearly half of our nation.”

She concluded, “We have a long road ahead in restoring our national humanity.”
