- If you live or work in the tri-towns you have probably heard by now about the recent incident, which according to a Fox 61 News article allegedly involves 11-year-old Daniel Duncan getting pushed off his bike Monday by Jameson Chapman. There is a video of the incident in which Chapman is heard telling the boy to "get the f*** out of here." The child's mother reportedly told Fox 61 News this isn't the first time their family has experienced this type of behavior since moving to Deep River four years ago. She said her other son was shot with a pellet gun by teens in a car earlier this month. The mom also said the kids are verbally attacked at school. "In addition, earlier this month, the Deep River message board was changed to include derogatory terms toward people of color. The Tri-Towns Neighborhood Connections Facebook has several posts regarding the bike incident. There will reportedly be a vigil held tonight at 5 p.m. at the Deep River Town Hall. https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx. " (FOX61 Hartford)

- If you have plans for Saturday, keep an eye on the weather. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook in advance of Saturday, as the odds are increasing that there will be strong-to-severe thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon and evening.
"A cold front will bring strong to severe thunderstorms to the area on Saturday," the weather service reported Thursday. The weather service said that the rain and storms may linger into Sunday morning, but then the sun should reappear by the afternoon and better weather continues for the remainder of Sunday and Monday. Are you an Essex-Chester-Deep River resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.
Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
