$360,000 Bid For Fairfield's Penfield Reef Lighthouse: Report
Located off the coast of Fairfield, the lighthouse has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1990.
FAIRFIELD, CT — It looks like there is a buyer for Fairfield's Penfield Reef Lighthouse, which was auctioned off last year. Who bought the property, however, is a mystery because the deal has not yet closed.
The Connecticut Post reported that a $360,000 bid was accepted for the nearly 150-year-old lighthouse, but the purchase paperwork has not been completed.
Located off the coast of Fairfield, the lighthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. It marks a submerged reef, and the property includes a 51-foot octagonal light structure above a two-story keeper's cottage that measures close to 1,600 square feet.
