Incidents Of Church Vandalism Under Investigation In Fairfield: Police (patch.com) — Fairfield police are investigating several recent disturbances and possible vandalism incidents at local churches, including reports of a man drinking holy water and causing disruptions. A 66-year-old Bridgeport resident was charged with interfering with an investigation, while officers continue to probe damage to a church statue and ask Fairfield residents to report any suspicious activity.
2. 24 Fairfield eateries, including 1 school, cited for serious health violations in June (ctpost.com) — Fairfield's Health Department cited 24 restaurants and other establishments, including a local elementary school and daycare, for 87 serious health violations in June. Dozens of spots along Post Road, Black Rock Turnpike, and in Southport were flagged for issues like poor hand-washing, improper food temperatures, and sanitizer problems, with some violations corrected on site and others requiring follow-up.
3. E-Bikes/E-Scooters Prohibited For Most Students In Fairfield Public Schools: Superintendent (patch.com) — Fairfield Public Schools are tightening safety rules around e-bikes and e-scooters, banning most students without a driver's license from bringing motorized devices onto school grounds. The superintendent cites recent local accidents and outlines where devices are allowed, possible confiscation and suspensions, and when police may get involved, urging families to review safe riding options.
4. WSHU Advisory Board (wshu.org) — WSHU Public Radio, based at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, is inviting community members to observe its advisory board meetings, which are held three times a year and open to the public via Zoom. The volunteer board provides community feedback on programming and public service, and interested Fairfield-area residents can email the station to learn how to participate as observers.
