AAA Southern New England has recognized the Town’s Police Department with the AAA Gold Award for making traffic safety a key priority. The Department was touted for its ongoing education, enforcement and engineering efforts that help make traffic safety a top priority.
AAA Southern New England Public Affairs Coordinator Fran Mayko who presented the award last November to Chief Gary MacNamara, First Selectman Mike Tetreau and Police Commission Member and former Chair Arthur Hersh said, “The Fairfield Police Department received the Gold Award because it has a very active Safe Routes to School program at the Town’s two middle and three elementary schools and a comprehensive traffic-safety awareness program, including a mock crash investigation for high school students and a citizen’s police academy.”
First Selectman Mike Tetreau said, “On behalf of the Fairfield community, I would like to recognize the Fairfield Police Department for their dedicated ongoing efforts to improve traffic safety. I would also like to thank our Town’s engineering and public works departments which collaborate with our police department to help keep all our residents safe.”
